The Mediateca Santa Teresa is the result of a programme agreement between four promoters: the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Lombardy Region, the Province and the Municipality of Milan, who have contributed to the realisation of the project.
The project dates back to the early 1990s and the structure opened to the public on 13 June 2003.
The baroque church of Santa Teresa in Via della Moscova in Milan, which has been in disuse for some time, has now been transformed into a place of information and training.
The Mediateca recognizes the usefulness of electronic information for information and educational needs and offers its users access to the Internet and electronic, digital and audiovisual documentary sources as an additional information tool compared to traditional sources.
The use of these sources must be consistent with the fundamental functions and objectives of the Braidense National Library of which it is a section: therefore, mainly as a source of information for research, study and documentation purposes. It is a center of continuous literacy, with tutors and courses that accompany and integrate the use of multimedia tools.
RAI has joined the initiative by providing "RAITECHE", the Piccolo Teatro di Milano has granted privileged access to its archives: reviews, press reviews, music, videos, sketches, posters.
