Korean Craft 2022 ''Again,From The Earth’s Foundation''
The exhibition entitled "Again, From The Earth's Foundation" tackles the theme of respect for nature, bringing attention to the value of craftsmanship and the use of raw materials that originate from nature itself, in this particular moment of pandemic, climatic and moral crisis.
To face this challenge, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Korea together with KCDF - Korea Craft Design Foundation wanted to involve three great names of Italian design such as Michele De Lucchi, Mario Trimarchi and Francesco Faccin. Each with their own approach to design has interpreted Korean aesthetics through works created by the three Korean master craftsmen Gangyong Park, Hyungkun Lee and Sungja Hur, known for their care and skill in the use of natural raw materials.
In the exhibition, the naturalism of "Sobak", the foundation of Korean aesthetics, meets the excellence of Italian design.
The goal is to create empathy with nature in the public through the experience of Korean craftsmanship interpreted by Italian designers.
100 artworks on display created by Italian designers with Korean artisans (3 works by de Lucchi, 5 by Trimarchi and 3 by Faccin) and by 14 Korean artists, made with metals, fabrics, wood, glass and Hanji (the traditional Korean paper) to show the essence of Korean craftsmanship under the artistic direction of Shinjae Kang
