Representative of a true cultural exchange between Sharjah, UAE and Milan, Italy, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council is curating an immersive experience combining Emirati craft and flora, to be launched on June 6th within Milan’s renowned Cambi Auction House and Palazzo Litta, in line with Milan Design Fair 2022.
The immersive pockets of Emirati crafts and flora plugged into the city’s Via San Marco and Corso Magenta, offer a curated selection of Safeefah palm frond, recycled felt and camel leather weaving crafts, Talli cotton thread and metallic thread weaving crafts, cotton silk hand dyeing and weaving crafts, marquetry, vegetal Leather molding, stone inlay, woodworks, glass blowing, clay building and carpet weaving.
The crafts have been translated by Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council’s artisans and collaborative designers into contemporary homeware, in line with Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council’s dedication to creating a sustainable market in which re-contextualized traditional crafts and crafted products exist.
